We received this note from the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute in River Falls on Friday, April 10, 2015.

"Over the past several years, the Rhino’s have provided nearly $30,000 to support patients at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute–River Falls.  The relationship started in 2011, when the Rhino’s pledged $10,000 to kick off fundraising for a new Cancer Patient Assistance Fund.  Through the program, patients struggling to make ends meet can receive financial support for essential living expenses like rent, utilities, transportation and day care.  Thanks in large part to the Rhino’s generosity, we have already been able to provide financial assistance for 27 patients.

In 2012, the Rhino’s stepped up to offer a new type of support for our patients. We are now able to provide our patients with “on the spot” gift cards to Kwik Trip and Dick’s Fresh Market. These gift cards not only ease a financial burden, but also provide a much needed “pick me up.”

In 2013, when our infusion center needed new treatment chairs, funding for an optional heat and massage option just wasn’t in the budget. Once again, the Rhino’s stepped up, providing the funds for this additional level of comfort for our patients.

The Rhino’s are always looking for new ways to help us provide exceptional care for our patients. Their donations enable us to provide support and services that make a big difference for our patients. On behalf of all of us here at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute-River Falls, I say, “Thank you, Rhino’s!”

Amy Cernohous, RN, BSN, OCN, Cancer Care Coordinator, VPCI-River Falls"
